Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program

CEO provides the Supportive Services for Veterans Families Program (SSVF) through funding from United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

SSVF goal is to help end veteran homelessness by providing case management and supportive services to low income veterans and their families.  SSVF prioritizes the delivery of rapid re-housing services to homeless Veteran households.  During this time of COVID-19 SSVF has expanded program eligibility requirements for homeless prevention assistance in order to assist Veterans who are facing financial hardship. CEO’S SSVF Program can assist Veterans in the 15 counties of Northeast Pa.

Eligibility includes:

Veteran Status- Eligible veteran is a person who served in the active military, naval or air services and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. A Reservist can also be considered eligible if activated during "War time" or in a "State of Emergency" and deployed out of State.

Income guidelines: Household income does not exceed 50% of area median income.

Occupying Permanent Housing: A very low-income Veteran family is considered to be "occupying permanent housing" if they fall into one of three categories:

  1. Residing in permanent housing and at risk of becoming literally homeless but for grantee's assistance;
  2. Is literally homeless, and at risk to remain in this situation but for grantee's assistance, and scheduled to become a resident of permanent housing within 90 days pending the location or development of housing suitable for permanent housing; or
  3. Is literally homeless after exiting permanent housing within the previous 90 days to seek other housing that is responsive to the very low-income Veteran family's needs and preferences.

SSVF works in conjunction with the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Centers, Continuums of Care and other local, regional, state and federal programs to assist homeless Veterans and their families. Proof of Veteran Status and Income must be attainable in order to receive financial assistance.
