Our Programs

Operating a broad array of programs, CEO exemplifies its "People Helping People" mission by mobilizing resources to fight the causes and effects of poverty and promoting self-sufficiency among low-income and vulnerable populations.

Some of the many programs offered by CEO include:

 Regional Food Bank

Sponsor of the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank, serving Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wyoming and Susquehanna counties in Northeast PA. As an affiliate of Feeding America, the nation's largest charitable food network, the Weinberg Regional Food Bank distributes more than four million pounds of food to over 100 local agencies that serve nearly 250,000 meals to hungry children, adults and the elderly.

 Community Food and
 Nutrition

In addition to the Regional Food Bank, CEO sponsors home-delivered meals for the elderly and homebound and provides nutrition, cooking and food safety education to the public.

 Housing

CEO, a HUD-Approved Comprehensive Counseling Agency, works with renters and homeowners facing housing difficulties. Housing options are explored matching available community resources for low-to-moderate income families with children and fixed income senior citizens.

 Urgent Financial
 Assistance

CEO's case management staff assesses emergency situations faced by community residents. Financial aid is offered to resolve the emergency dependent upon hardship funding availability. Longer-term solutions are developed with the family seeking assistance to promote self-sufficiency.

 Energy Assistance

This program provides financial assistance to individuals and families who are unable to pay fuel bills, have had utilities shut off or are in need of emergency fuel supplies or furnace repairs. Referral is made to our weatherization program to promote energy conservation.

 Homeless Assistance

CEO is the lead agency in LuzerneCounty's plan for a coordinated response to the issue of homelessness. Case management services are provided to address the crisis of homelessness and to prevent its recurrence.

 SNAP (Food Stamp) Outreach

SNAP helps stretch precious dollars at the grocery store so families can eat a variety of healthy foods, such as grains (especially whole grains), fruits, and vegetables every day.
