Service Insights Training

Service Insights Basics

Service Insights on MealConnect is a no-cost, intake software available to all our partners.  Service Insights electronically and securely stores data about the neighbors you serve on a shared network.  This means we can use a single, unified database of information – while keeping visit data private to each partner agency.

Better data on who, how often and where we are serving local families means we can gain a better understanding of food insecurity in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The more we learn about our neighbors and where they travel for food, the better we can meet their needs.

Data collection helps us:

  • Advocate for more resources
  • Apply for grant funding
  • Measure success
  • Improve service

And for you, no more paper TEFAP forms, signature logs, file boxes or clipboards, and no more monthly data reports!

Use of Service Insights is not currently required, but will eventually be required for all pantries, mobile pantries, and Children’s Produce Markets.

Training instructions:

Step 1:  Watch the videos below in order!

1. Searching and adding households

2. TEFAP Income question, Eligibility & Signatures

3. Reservations  (Reservations are a great tool for monthly recurring events like mobile pantries and Children's Produce Markets.  Reservations are not relevant/useful for pantries with more frequent hours of operation.)

4. Returning to the Homepage - changing the date & searching by alt. id

5. Logging a return visit

6. Service Insights Intake - Supplement to the TEFAP Form
